On-device intelligence
The words are understood on your phone. The numbers are physics.
On a compatible iPhone with Apple Intelligence, Apple’s on-device model interprets English requests. French uses keyword parsing and a curated coaching library; preset coaching also keeps the app useful when the model is unavailable. Exposure settings are always calculated from the metered light and your camera’s real dials. Your sentence stays on the phone.

What it does
- Your camera, not a camera
Your lens's real aperture range and click step. Your body's shutter ladder. If f/1.7 isn't on your lens, Obtura will never suggest it.
- Works offline
Metering, intent and the solver all run on the device. No signal needed on the mountain, in the darkroom, or on the plane.
- Film stocks & real dials
Set the film sensitivity and dial steps in your profile. For long exposures on film, consult the film maker’s reciprocity guidance separately: Obtura does not automatically apply that correction.
- A journal of your shots
Log your shots with their settings, intent, a reference frame and location. Return to your notes when the scans come back.

- Requires iOS 26 or later. iPhone planning supports iPhone 16, 17 and 18 Pro and Pro Max. Guides, metering and presets work without Apple Intelligence. English model coaching requires a compatible iPhone and Apple Intelligence; French uses local keyword parsing and curated guidance.
- Free access
- Metering, previsualisation, the shot journal, calibration and camera profiles are free and unlimited. Coaching is limited to three shots per rolling seven days without Pro.
- Data & privacy
- Obtura does not upload your photography to Nesia. Originals are saved in the app; optional Photos exports may sync through your iCloud Photos settings. Apple and RevenueCat handle anonymous purchase information. Read the policy →
Privacy
Your photographs are not sent to Nesia.
No account. No analytics SDK in the app. No tracking, no advertising identifier. Obtura never sends Nesia your photographs, camera profiles, journal or the sentences you speak. Apple may restore that app data from your encrypted device backup. Apple takes the payment; an anonymous receipt is the only thing our purchase provider receives, without your name or email address.

Metering is free and unlimited, forever — and so are previsualisation, the shot journal, calibration and your camera profiles. The one thing Pro changes is coaching: three coached shots per rolling seven days without it, unlimited with it, as a monthly or annual subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase.
